MAKE AN INFORMED CHOICE
Why You Should Use an Agent
Choosing the right Medicare coverage starts with choosing the right people to work with. To start with, using an agent to help you with your Medicare decisions does not cost you anything because the agent is compensated by the insurance companies. And on top of being a FREE service, an agent will also:
- Work with you one-on-one, making unbiased recommendations that are based on your unique needs
- Offer choices from multiple plans and insurance carriers (so you get the best coverage AND price)
- Help you change from one insurance company to another, if the need arises
- Take the time to make sure you understand all of your options and can make a confident choice
- Remain your lifelong advocate, always available when you have questions
MEET STEVE WALTER, INSURANCE AGENT!
Steve is originally from Philadelphia and in July 2021, relocated to Crossville, TN with his wife Deborah and dog Roscoe. He previously lived in the Nashville area for 16 years. He went to Father Judge High School and graduated from Temple University School of Pharmacy.
His pharmacy career was varied, but he mostly worked in the retail setting with familiar companies such as CVS Pharmacy®, Albertsons®, and Walmart®. He worked as both staff and management in pharmacies that filled anywhere from 100 to 500 Rx’s per day. In between retail jobs, he spent time with Omnicare®, servicing and consulting for nursing homes. He also spent an interesting 2-year period with Cardinal Health working as a nuclear pharmacist. A nuclear pharmacist's function is to prepare radioactive tracers, which are used for imaging purposes such as: cardiac, blood labeling, & cancer detection.
Working in pharmacy, Steve saw the confusion people were experiencing with their Medicare insurance. In order to help them sort through all of the information that is available, especially on the internet, he obtained a State of Tennessee Health Insurance License and became Medicare-certified.
No longer working in the pharmacy field, he has applied his expertise to help Medicare beneficiaries understand and get the most value from their Medicare health insurance.
Independent Agents VS. Large Companies
Big corporate insurance companies & marketing companies will run ads claiming that you only need to make one phone call. While that may be true, they will use this call to try to set you up on their plan, rather than work with you to find the plan that is best for you and your budget.
In addition, after you become a customer, their main goal is to keep you with their company. What if something better or less expensive comes along from another company? Do you think they are going to make you aware of this?
You can try to do Medicare on your own, but unless you are willing to put the time in and do the research, you probably are not going to end up getting the most value from your Medicare coverage.
